Beach Day
In June, Jenny very kindly hosted a Walsworth beach day at her grandmother’s cottage near Good Harbor beach in Gloucester.
Beach Day
It was a great day for the beach — sunny and warm with clear skies!
Beach Day
Of course, after dipping our toes in the (cold, cold, so cold, why so cold?!?) water, we decided maybe we better warm up with a game of soccer. Here’s Erik outlining our soccer field.
Beach Day
Pauli’s supervising the soccer field construction.
Beach Day
Erik, that’s a really small soccer field…
Beach Day
Some hardcore lounging going on here…
Beach Day
Alright, time for some soccer!
Beach Day
No wait, time for a picture first! Everyone, smile at the camera! (Ehhh, close enough)
Beach Day
And by ‘we,’ that mostly means Mikael.
Beach Day
There, that’s better!
Beach Day
We played CfA versus Northwest Building. Of course, since the CfA contingent rather outnumbered the NW contingent, it ended up being CfA vs. NW and +1’s…
Beach Day
Then of course, people would tag in and out of the game and end up on different teams, causing them to (completely understandably!) accidentally pass to the wrong team. (Look, it was an honest mistake!)
Beach Day
NW and +1 team going for the goal…
Beach Day
We ended on a tie game: 4-4, I think? Good game, everyone!
Beach Day
The beach had a sandbar to a little island, so at low tide, we crossed it and went exploring.
Beach Day
We are champions! …except for Matt 🙂
Beach Day
Jenny and Tom and the beautiful Good Harbor beach!
Beach Day
Flip-flops and barefeet were not the best choice for climbing around on rocks, so Jenny, Tom, and Aakash headed back to the sandbar to await the rest of the group’s exploration of the rest of the island.
Beach Day
Here they make their triumphant return!
Beach Day
Pauli made a new friend!
Beach Day
The water was so cold, Aakash’s feet went instantly number as soon as they touched it while Aakash screeched like a banshee. So naturally, Matt wanted to wade deeper.
Beach Day
Time to head back to the beach…
Beach Day
…just strolling…
Beach Day
…sedately…like sedate adults…
Beach Day
Just kidding. SPLASH FIGHT!
Beach Day
Paul and Aakash stood far, far away. We enjoyed the splash fight from a distance 🙂
Beach Day
After we got back from the sandbar, Ron and two of his sons, and John and his girlfriend Jill joined us.
Beach Day
At which point, Pauli, John, Matt, Jenny, and Jill all ran and jumped in the water.
Beach Day
Mikael, Pauli, and one of Ron’s sons playing paddleball.
Beach Day
Connor building a sandcastle
Beach Day
Around 4 pm, we all packed up and came back to Jenny’s grandmother’s cottage for a barbecue.
Beach Day
Ron brought his famous spaghetti sauce.

Walsworth Group Beach Day 2016: great success! Thanks Jenny!
